Cast from the unifying colors of the American flag, the new USA home kit combines heritage and patriotism in a bold new design tailored, for the first time, for both the Men’s and Women’s teams.

23% lighter and 20% stronger than previous jerseys, the shirt is made from recycled plastic bottles & Dri-FIT recycled polyester, allowing for high performance and low environmental impact.

The shirt’s tonal sash echoes that of the fabled 1950 USMNT jersey, while the stars & stripes, located inside the blue crew neck collar, give inspiration to all who wear it.

Two teams. One jersey.

Nike has unveiled the new home strip for the U.S. men’s and women’s national team and it has hoops. Reminiscent of the 1994 away kit, with red and white striations and a blue collar, Nike also kept the crossbody sash of the previous iteration in a subtle tonal design.

Dempsey...cough cough...

Demspey and Morgan get the lateral Nike lightbeams treatment. But now, both the USMNT and USWNT will be taking the pitch in the same kit.

USMNT tells you to buy some Pepsi Max.

You know you want to.

Of the top 10 FIFA teams, 80% are European…

…with Argentina dropping out of the top 10 for the first time in nearly a decade and a half.

Some of the largest drops in the FIFA rankings?

2011 AFC Asian Cup champions. Japan. They dropped 11 spots from 19 to 30. Egypt and Senegal suffered as well to find themselves 25 below from December.

The United States of America moved up two places to take second in the CONCACAF ranks encroaching on Mexico, who still look to be basking in the sun at the top.

Africa Cup of Nation Champs Zambia, AFCON bronze medalists Mali, and hosts Gabon experienced meteoric rises into the top 10 of the CAF rankings, with 28, 25, and 46 spot ascensions respectively. Africa Cup of Nations host Equatorial Guinea also experienced a 40 plus rise in the FIFA ranks.

The European horizon has been steady with slight eddies up and down the ladder since the end of 2011. Wales experienced the highest burst with a +7 rise to take the 43rd position, right above recently risen AFCON quarter finalists Gabon and Mali.

Anyway, enough about that. Check out the recent updates here if there is a specific team you want to keep an eye on.

That’s a short round up of the January FIFA rankings. I’ll be interested in seeing what things look like at the end of summer. I’ll try and make this a monthly thing.

I love how yahoo captioned this photo “A United States fan wears a T-shirt showing her support for goalkeeper Hope Solo”. Indeed.

Hope Solo is quite popular with the ladies.

Here’s a throwback for you. Alexi Lalas, how far you’ve come.

Klinsmann’s USMNT pep talk.

I don’t know why I always watch USMNT matches, but this one definitely didn’t disappoint. Good on ya US. And the Alpine fog definitely put that perfect whimsical touch on the victory. America 3 - 2 Slovenia.

This game…….revealed a sort of unprofessionalism, immaturity, and blind sidedness that Jurgen Klinsmann needs to go Hasselhoff on! Not to mention commentators who look at every US soccer game through rose coloured glasses. I really hope Herr Klinsmann paid really close attention to the gaping defensive and midfield holes in his team. It’s also very frustrating that only in stoppage time that your team actually starts applying the pressure that would’ve thwarted Wallace’s sticky yet resilient strike on goal. And seriously, why are people starting fights in friendlies? The goal keeper only wanted to calm you down Mr. Shea. Strange. Back to the lab I guess. I look forward to Belgium-USA…just to see, as those boys in the press box say “a real challenge for the USMNT”. *cue eye roll*…hmmm I wonder what Jozy is talking about on his twitter right now???
